What is SKYPE and how do I get it?
Skype is a free software application, obtained by downloading it from the Internet, that allows users to make video voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free (this would include our sessions), while calls to both traditional landline telephones and mobile phones can be made for a fee using a debit-based user account system. This, and the process of installing and setting up Skype for use, is very easy.
Skype communication is one of the most secure communications known. However, your confidentiality is only assured if you can be certain you are located in a private place when we talk.
To get started (assuming you don’t already have Skype), type into the Google search engine the words: "Skype download" and look at the hits. Choose the one for either Windows or Mac and, when you get to the site, click on the big "Download Now" button. From there, Skype will download and walk you through the installation process.
Once you have Skype installed, you will want to search for me as one of your contacts. I have a Skype name. It is: Russiansageone. It would be best to search for me via that name. You will be prompted to send a request to me that I allow you to contact me. I will return a “yes” and you will be notified that that worked. Then, we are ready to go! We will be able to call one another and both talk and see each other simulataneously.
If you have ANY problems or confusions with this process, I will be happy to help you at any point for free. Just call me.
Most of my clients report to me that they really like this method of counseling. Many find it so convenient not to have to leave their homes. Others find it helps if they have mobility or childcare issues. I hope you like it too! If you have doubts, ask me for a free half hour "trial session" with Skype. I'll be happy to arrange that for you.
Please be aware, though, that many insurance companies do not allow telemental health services for their clients. Some allow this form of counseling only if you are located in a mental health facility near you. Of course, even those with insurance may opt for this form of counseling if you wish to pay out of pocket. For more information about your unique situation, give me a call.
Furthermore, if you are not a Washington or Hawaii resident, you may not be able to use Skype with me from your location. Some states do not allow me to practice in their state with my Washington license. Other states, however, do. If you want to know if you can Skype from your state, give me a call at 360-261-4434.
